Social housing complex for seniors and young people opens

LOS ANGELES: An intergenerational supported care community has been created on a city regeneration site.

The $12.28 million project was constructed in partnership with Brisbane Housing Company (BHC), with the QLD Government contributing $6.38 million.

The 32 one-bedroom units in Mount Gravatt East is part of Annastacia Palaszczuk’s Government’s $3.9 billion investment in social and affordable housing for around 13,000 homes.

Brisbane Housing Company CEO Rebecca Oelkers said the social housing complex provides a crucial home and peace of mind for people in dire need of housing assistance, including seniors and people living with a disability.

The State Government earlier this week identified nearly 30 parcels of land to unlock more housing for Queenslanders, and the recent inspection of a new mixed-use precinct with affordable housing at Brisbane’s southern riverside suburb of Yeronga.
