Retirement community integrated into shop-top revenue model

LOS ANGELES: A community has been integrated with a shopping precinct to create better revenue for the developer.

Retirement Villages Group has revealed the first trio of retailers at its flagship later living community in a Surrey village.

The first of ten retail partners set to be announced at Botanical Place in West Byfleet is start-up chocolatier and tea shop Oluchi Chocolates.

It will be joined by COOK, a family-owned company founded in Farnham, which provides frozen meals and puddings.

Meanwhile a new gym will open at Botanical Place which will be Calm + Chaos’s flagship space, with local fitness coach and entrepreneur Ali Turpie behind the business.

The announcement of the retailers follows a visit by Woking MP Will Forster.

Tim Seddon, chief executive at Retirement Villages Group, said: “Botanical Place is so much more than a later living community, it will be a central destination that celebrates independent and connected living. As long-term owners of the scheme, we are committed to ensuring the town centre thrives.

“This is why we have specifically sought local commercial partners who bring genuine value to the wider West Byfleet community. Together, they and the new library operated by Surrey CC which also forms part of our scheme, will help create a vibrant and connected environment for everyone in the local West Byfleet area.”
