Boomers embrace unique penthouse living in mid-city locations

LOS ANGELES: Boomers are embracing unique penthouse living options which allow for one-off design boasts. The latest is a treehouse-inspired penthouse.

Sir Elton John, has purchased one of the swankiest apartments in a new development called King Toronto in Canada.

The property won’t be finished until 2023 and currently only renderings are available of the lush, plant-filled space — but the 75-year old and his Canadian husband, David Furnish, have already put an undisclosed sum toward one of six “Tree houses” — what the penthouse units in the development are being called.

Their new home will measure 242 sqm and feature three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a private spa and sweeping views of the Toronto skyline.

The main bedroom has an ensuite bath with both a basin tub and a rainfall shower, as well as a walk-in wardrobe.

Their own private spa is located on the apartment’s second floor, and has a steam room and a sauna. Every floor of the apartment has an ivy-covered private terrace.

The building as a whole has a multitude of amenities, including a “floating sanctuary” at the centre of the enormous complex, a gym, a pool and a party room.

The building is located in a trendy area of Toronto’s downtown, and has been described in listing materials as ‘being a resident is compared there to living atop a mountain’.

“The Penthouses at KING Toronto are your own sanctuary in the sky, they are the opportunity to come home to a mountaintop, with the world at your feet,” the website states.

“While the Penthouses at KING Toronto are each one of a kind, each offer in their own way the core themes that have come to define a Westbank home: the deep integration of nature through the integration of trees, foliage and outdoor terraces, meaningful sustainability, a commitment to artistry and stunning, panoramic views of the city.”

The award-winning musician’s new treehouse home will reportedly serve as a home base for summer trips to Canada.
