Best social housing community design for Global Awards shortlisted
LOS ANGELES: The shortlist for the best social housing community design has been declared.
Over 250 programmes have been considered by the awards secretariat. One of the finalists in this category is shown above.
More social housing is on the way for Ipswich, with Community Housing (Queensland) Limited proposing a new apartment block in Booval.
The application at 2 South Station Road in Booval seeks a development permit from Ipswich City Council for a material change of use for multiple residential (community housing).
The proposal is for a block of 43 units in a five storey building on top of a ground floor carpark.
According to the planning report by Gaskell Planning Consultants, the proposal would provide “much needed housing opportunities in this part of Ipswich to cater for residents in need of housing assistance in a combination of gold and silver affordability design standards”.
The location of the block is 3km from the CBD and close to the Booval train station, providing services to providing services towards Ipswich, Brisbane City, Caboolture, and the Sunshine Coast).
The project will include 35 one bedroom units with multi-purpose rooms and eight two bedroom units across the five storey building.
As part of the development, a new driveway will be created from Yates Street with a 41-space basement carpark and 11 bicycle spaces provided across the site.
Each unit will include private open space with appropriate screening devices and a communal open space with vegetable gardens will be provided on the first floor.
The Global Award winner will be announced in November in London. (Globals)
