Best retirement village design for Global Awards shortlisted

LOS ANGELES: The shortlist for the best seniors housing design has been declared.

Over 250 designs have been considered by the awards secretariat. One of the finalists in this category is shown above.

Owner of Morris Constructions QLD, Abel Morris, who has been building in Airlie Beach for 20 years, said he’s noticed a shift in the style of homes being built in the area.

“Builders around the likes of Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast have been building luxurious, architectural masterpieces for years and it’s exciting to finally get the opportunity,” Morris said.

According to Mr Morris, Airlie Beach has become the new go-to spot for people seeking a quiet haven and a slower lifestyle.

“People used to head to Noosa but prices there have skyrocketed and it’s much busier than it used to be,” Mr Morris said.

“What I can gather from my clients is that Airlie is being noticed not only as a tropical paradise but also as the pinnacle of contemporary relaxed luxury living.”

Mr Morris has been commissioned to build a new architecturally designed house known as ‘Ancora’ that he describes as a groundbreaking project”.

“It boasts an abundance of natural light, an open floor plan and 270 degree views across the Coral Sea to the Whitsundays,” he said.

“It’s got soaring ceilings with clerestory glazing, concrete floors, and expansive windows showcasing meticulously curated living spaces.

“It really is an architectural masterpiece.”

The Global Award winner will be announced in November in London. (Globals)
