Best retirement housing design for Global Awards shortlisted
MELBOURNE: The shortlist for the best retirement housing design has been declared.

A proposed five-storey $40m Kent Town building would offer residents city views from spacious, luxurious apartments under a developer’s plan.
Adelaide Development Corporation this month lodged plans to develop the 27-apartment building, complete with Tuscan-style arches, proposed to be prominently positioned at 82 Rundle St.
Managing director Timothy Rogers said the lot was “the last significant landholding on Rundle St”.
“We can’t see any more Rundle St projects coming to the market, in Kent Town specifically,” he said. “So, if not this project, there may be a long wait to live on Rundle St.”
The building is proposed to include one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments – some of which would include private pools and balcony gardens.
Mr Rogers said he was targeting professional couples and downsizers to live in the larger-than-standard apartments.
He said if the plans were approved by Norwood, Payneham and St Peters Council, the construction period was estimated to be 18 months.
The building would include a ground floor and an additional four levels, with a 35m frontage to Rundle St and two levels of basement parking accessible from Rundle St.
Positioned 100m from Kent Town Hotel and about 240m from Bunnings Kent Town, Mr Rogers said he thought the site was “probably one of the best positions on Rundle St”.
He said revenue from the project was projected to reach $40m.
The plans are yet to be approved.
