Best affordable seniors rental housing for Global Awards shortlisted
LOS ANGELES: The shortlist for the best affordable seniors housing design has been declared.
Over 250 programmes have been considered by the awards secretariat. One of the finalists in this category is shown above.
A new $12.3 million federal investment will go towards the creation of more housing supply for residents of Edmonton.
The funding will bolster the repair and renovation of 420 rental homes at the Matheson Senior Residence in Edmonton.
The building, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary, offers accessible units designed to foster independent living for seniors aging in place. The federal tranche will help the complex finish repairs to resident’s balconies, install a new fire alarm system, and implement a replacement of the building’s plumbing system.
This investment was made possible by the Government of Canada’s National Housing Co-Investment Fund (NHCF).
The Global Award winner will be announced in December in London. (Globals)
