LOS ANGELES: The shortlist for the best affordable seniors housing design has been declared.
Over 250 designs have been considered by the awards secretariat. One of the finalists in this category is shown above.
Two new affordable housing communities will arrive in Goodyear after developers struck a deal to develop senior and low-income housing.
The 28-acre site at 16985 W. Van Buren St. in Goodyear will house 657 affordable units for families and seniors. Once complete, Estrella Springs and Suncrest Vista at Canyon Trails will provide 396 low-income family and 261 age-restricted units. According to the developer, the move marks the most extensive affordable multifamily new construction development within Arizona.
In collaboration with local stakeholders, the development will feature low-water landscaping, artistic features designed by local students, and a flex space within the community clubhouse accessible by the local elementary school.
Construction of Estrella Springs and Suncrest Vista at Canyon Trail will be supported by the Section 42 Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program and private bonds.
Nationally, the LIHTC program is considered the largest source of support for constructing and maintaining affordable housing communities.
The Global Award winner will be announced in November in London. (Globals)
