Applications open for supportive housing community development
LOS ANGELES: The new project is a four storey building with 14 apartments for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Cohome, LLC is currently accepting applications for 14 supportive apartments, which will house up to 24 adults with disabilities. The apartments are located at 175 Morris St., which is a five-minute walk from downtown Morristown, in the new “Max on Morris” building.
The four-story housing development is pet friendly and offers in-unit washers and dryers as well as quartz countertops, tile backsplashes, and luxury plank flooring throughout, with kitchen islands available in select residences.
According to officials, residents who require assistance with activities of daily living can rely on Cohome’s Life Skills Mentors for assistance with everything from meal preparation to going out into the community.
Cohome was founded to provide adults with disabilities with access to their communities. The organization says that they promote independence by providing person-centered affordable housing and supportive services.
Earlier this year, Bill Byrne, a local resident known for his advocacy for people with disabilities, spoke at a council meeting, expressing his concern about who will manage the Max on Morris apartments designated for those residents.
Councilman Robert Iannaccone asserted that the administration would keep a very close eye on the operation.
Monthly rental rates for the community’s studio, one and two-bedroom apartments start from $2,340. New-construction specials are also available for a limited time.
