New affordable one bedroom seniors apartments now open

LOS ANGELES: A new affordable one bedroom seniors apartment community has been opened on a regeneration site.

Glenda Fraser wasn’t looking for anything fancy. A comfortable bedroom, a bright living space, a patio where she could sit with a book. She found all of it at The Maple, plus a friendly community she hadn’t expected.

“It’s really all I need. A nice living room, bedroom, bathroom with a walk-in shower and the patio is my favourite spot for reading,” Glenda says. “I love the view, it’s nice and bright, and all the people here are very friendly.”

The Maple is a brand new seniors rental building developed by Langley Lions Housing Society (LLHS), a non-profit that has provided affordable housing to seniors and people with disabilities in Langley for more than 50 years.

Now accepting applications, the building offers one-bedroom units for adults 55+. For those on moderate incomes – earning under $84,780 per year – there are 30 units available, with rents starting at $1,550 per month.

“This new building offers seniors independence, community and a great location,,” says Jeanette Dagenais, CEO of Langley Lions Housing Society. “The Maple is a modern, accessible building for seniors and is the seventh building on our campus of seniors housing.”

Each unit ranges from 554 to 629 square feet and includes a separate bedroom, full kitchen, accessible washroom and storage. The building is brand new and built with accessibility at the forefront, with modern finishes and well-maintained common spaces throughout.

Sitting directly behind the Langley Mall, residents enjoy easy access to groceries, banking, pharmacy and more, all within walking distance.

“When you live on our campus, you are never far from a friendly face,” Dagenais says. “Our tenants value that sense of belonging, and we are proud of creating a community for seniors in Langley. The Maple is a beautiful building and we’re excited to be opening this new building, providing much-needed seniors housing for the Langley community.”
