Best retirement housing design for Global Awards shortlisted

LOS ANGELES: The shortlist for the best retirement housing design has been declared.

Over 250 designs have been considered by the awards secretariat. One of the finalists in this category is shown above.

A ‘stunning’ two-bed apartment is on the market at a new £39m retirement village featuring a restaurant, café and fitness studio on the site of a former Chester garden centre. The 115-apartment development, known as The Wyldewoods, is located at the old Beechmoor Garden Centre in Boughton Heath and is set in a series of distinct villas surrounded by landscaped greenery.

Some of the first homes have gone on the market in the last few weeks. They include a two-bed apartment in the Pollard House block, which has a price tag of £756,950.

Rightmove states: “This two bedroom, third floor apartment is a haven for those seeking a peaceful and secure living environment, with carefully designed layouts, accessibility features and community activities including a restaurant and bar. The Wyldewoods by Thrive Living is part of a brand new collection of sustainable communities that truly put people’s choice and wellbeing first.

“Picture beautifully designed apartments surrounded by landscaped spaces and a central courtyard with a wealth of facilities to enjoy as and when you choose.”

Last year, developers said the new community would boost the local economy by £39m, creating more than 300 jobs through the construction process. It also forecasted an increased annual spending in the area of £1.5m and would create 30 full time jobs.

The Global Award winner will be announced in December in London. (Globals)
