Best residential care home design for Global Awards shortlisted

LOS ANGELES: The shortlist for the best retirement housing design has been declared.

Over 250 designs have been considered by the awards secretariat. One of the finalists in this category is shown below.

Plans have been submitted for a three-storey care home to meet the demand for elderly care.

The application would create a 59-bed facility on Cabourne Avenue in the Ermine area of Lincoln for those who need round-the-clock nursing or have dementia.

It would be built on green space with a public footpath next to the Lindum and Minster Medical Practice.

The application would also extend the practice’s car park, adding an extra 24 spaces for patients and staff on a separate parcel of land.

Glenholme Healthcare Group, who are behind the plans, say the facility would ease pressure on medical services in the area.

Planning documents say: “There is an ageing population both nationally and locally, and the need for elderly care accommodation is growing rapidly.

“This location would be suitable due to its proximity to community facilities, and short distance from Lincoln city centre.

“Considering the increasing need for elderly housing options, the introduction of this Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered 59-bed care home in Lincoln will significantly ease this pressure both for the local council and the NHS.”

The Global Award winner will be announced in December in London. (Globals)
